Racism and Obama

When I first heard the name of Barack Obama, a black man running for president of the United States the first thing I thought after "how amazing is that" was "a black man will never become president in this racist nation".

I was then surprised by his popularity, and his many wins against Hillary Clinton, and I thought to myself "Well maybe I was wrong" but alas, after an email I received from my former sister in-law is where I'm starting to see my initial reaction was right on the money. The forwarded email entitled "Obama in military" was one that was starting to become familiar. Just like the "Hand on the Muslim bible", "refusal to salute the American flag during the Pledge of Allegiance" or the "not wearing the American flag pin" bull that keeps ending up in my inbox.

It wasn't until I looked through the emails various forwarded comments that the following caught my eye.


"i think this muslim nigger is also a communist and will destroy this country if he is elected !!!!!!"

This my friends, is the cream of the crop for us Americans. Racists like Capt Harry Simmons who still use the word "nigger" and sign their name to it. Not only is Capt Harry Simmons a racist, he shows his ignorance by labeling Obama a muslim.

I guess Capt Harry hasn't been watching the news lately, where the news has been about Obama's 23 year attendance at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago http://www.tucc.org/home.htm . Oh what a surprise, Barack is a CHRISTIAN.

People who believe this crap, without questioning it, are as racist and ignorant as Captain Harry and one of the reasons I refuse to sit on a jury anymore. Most people are ignorant and stupid. Emails like this just prove it.
